**Vadra Parikrama** (also called Bhadra Parikrama) is a sacred circumambulation observed during the lunar month of Bhadra (August–September), when devotees walk around holy places such as temples, sacred groves, or rivers as an act of devotion and surrender. The ritual, rooted in Vaishnav traditions, is believed to bring spiritual merit and blessings, especially since the month is associated with auspicious events like Lord Krishna’s birth. Beyond its religious significance, Vadra Parikrama also reflects a seasonal rhythm: held after the monsoon when nature is lush and fertile, it becomes a communal practice that ties together spirituality, culture, and the agrarian cycle.
In Bishnupriya Manipuri community, people consider the Vadra Parikrama as a revered act. In the past people would travel many miles specially to the holy places like Kashi, Gaya, Vrindavan, Haridwar etc. However, since being a Bangladeshi citizen it is not easy to travel to those places. Hence, the devotees go around the temples within their reach. Inside the Kamalganj area there are ample numbers of temples. Maybe they are not old or significant as other prime temples but for the devotees a simple idol can be God, a small place can be Vrindavan; it's all the heart and in the senses.
During the Bhadra the devotees form little groups and visit the temples and exchange their religious thoughts and philosophies. Here is one group who would eventually became a part of a bigger group for the Bhadra Parikrama.
**ভাদ্র পরিক্রমা** (ভাদ্র পরিক্রমা নামেও পরিচিত) হলো একটি পবিত্র পরিক্রমণ, যা ভাদ্র মাসে (আগস্ট–সেপ্টেম্বর) পালিত হয়। এই সময় ভক্তরা মন্দির, পবিত্র অরণ্য বা নদীর চারপাশে প্রদক্ষিণ করেন ভক্তি ও আত্মসমর্পণের প্রতীক হিসেবে। বৈষ্ণব ঐতিহ্যের ভিত্তিতে এই আচারটি আধ্যাত্মিক পুণ্য ও আশীর্বাদ বয়ে আনে বলে বিশ্বাস করা হয়, বিশেষত যেহেতু এই মাসটি শ্রীকৃষ্ণ জন্মাষ্টমীর মতো শুভ ঘটনার সঙ্গে যুক্ত। ধর্মীয় গুরুত্ব ছাড়াও বদ্র পরিক্রমা ঋতুচক্রের সাথেও জড়িত—বর্ষার পর যখন প্রকৃতি সবুজ ও উর্বর থাকে, তখন এটি এক সামষ্টিক অনুশীলন হয়ে ওঠে যা আধ্যাত্মিকতা, সংস্কৃতি ও কৃষিজীবনকে একত্র করে।
বিষ্ণুপ্রিয়া মণিপুরি সমাজে ভাদ্র পরিক্রমাকে এক মহিমান্বিত আচার হিসেবে গণ্য করা হয়। অতীতে মানুষ বিশেষভাবে কাশী, গয়া, বৃন্দাবন, হরিদ্বার প্রভৃতি পবিত্র স্থানে যাত্রা করতেন। তবে বাংলাদেশি নাগরিক হিসেবে এসব স্থানে ভ্রমণ সহজ নয়। তাই ভক্তরা নিজেদের নাগালের মধ্যে থাকা মন্দিরগুলোতে প্রদক্ষিণ করেন। কমলগঞ্জ এলাকায় অসংখ্য মন্দির রয়েছে। সেগুলো হয়তো অন্যান্য প্রধান মন্দিরের মতো প্রাচীন বা খ্যাতিমান নয়, কিন্তু ভক্তদের কাছে একটি সাধারণ প্রতিমাই হতে পারে ঈশ্বর, একটি ছোট জায়গাই হতে পারে বৃন্দাবন—সবই হৃদয়ের অনুভূতি ও ভক্তির দৃষ্টিতে।
ভাদ্র মাসে ভক্তরা ছোট ছোট দলে সংগঠিত হয়ে মন্দির পরিদর্শন করেন এবং নিজেদের ধর্মীয় ভাবনা ও দর্শনের আদানপ্রদান করেন। এভাবেই একটি ছোট দল ক্রমশ এক বৃহত্তর দলের অংশ হয়ে ওঠে ভাদ্র পরিক্রমার জন্য।
